Stop Smoking
-
Summary: This field study of 186 participants combined hypnosis and aversion techniques in a two-week smoking cessation program, reporting that 90% of women and 92% of men were abstinent after treatment, with reported abstinence rates of 87% and 86%, respectively, at three-month follow-up.
Important qualification: This was not a controlled randomized trial, and the authors acknowledged limitations in measurement and experimental controls.
-
Summary: This study described a smoking cessation program combining hypnosis with rapid smoking, in which 39 of 43 participants (90.7%) reported remaining abstinent at follow-up periods ranging from six months to three years.
Important qualification: This was a demonstration of an integrated treatment approach, not a randomized controlled trial. The reported percentage should not be presented as an independently established success rate for hypnosis alone.
-
Summary: This preliminary clinical study evaluated an individualized, three-session hypnosis program in 21 smokers, with 81% reporting that they had stopped smoking at the end of treatment and 48% reporting continued abstinence at 12-month follow-up.
Important qualification: Only 21 participants received hypnosis, and the study did not include a control group.
-
Summary: This randomized trial assigned 360 smokers to six weeks of group hypnosis or cognitive behavioral therapy and found no statistically significant difference in continuous abstinence at 12 months (15.0% for hypnosis versus 15.6% for CBT).
Important qualification: Although published in 2024, the participants were recruited between 2010 and 2012. The study used six weekly 90-minute group sessions, not a short individual hypnosis program.
-
Summary: This systematic review examined 14 studies involving 1,926 participants and concluded that there was insufficient reliable evidence to establish that hypnosis produces better long-term smoking cessation results than other behavioral approaches or no treatment.
Important qualification: The review found that most included studies had methodological weaknesses, and the overall certainty of the evidence was low or very low.
What if your next cigarette were your last?
Stop trying to quit. Quit now and begin living a smoke-free life!
You might have thought about quitting more time than you can count. Maybe you tried to quit before. Or, promised yourself that this would be your last pack, your last cigarette, or the last time you would smoke again.
And yet, here you are. Still smoking, Still making deals with yourself . Still wondering when you will finally be free of cigarettes.
What if you approached it differently this time?
Imaging waking up without immediately thinking about cigarettes. Enjoying your morning coffee without reaching for one. Driving somewhere without planning your next smoke. Getting through a difficult day without automatically turning to cigarettes.
Not constantly fighting the urge to smoke. Not counting the days since your last cigarette. Simply living without smoking.
What if you could stop in the next two weeks?
At Mind & Meaning Waypoint, our three-session hypnosis program is designed tom help you make a clean break from smoking. It is a focused program for people who have already decided that they want to stop.
Three private consultations, a clear plan, and one decision to become smoke-free.
Are you ready to make that change?
A different approach to an old habit.
You already know why you want to stop smoking. You know about the health risks, the cost, the inconvenience, and the frustration of feeling that something you really do not want to do keeps finding its way into your day.
But smoking is not just about cigarettes. Over time, it can become tied to many everyday activities: morning coffee, driving, finishing a meal, taking a break, or dealing with stress. Eventually, reaching for a cigarette can feel automatic.
What if you could change those habits?
Hypnosis gives you a chance to work with thoughts, feelings, and habits that have become part of your smoking routine.
Through focused attention, relaxation, positive suggestions, imagination, and mental practice, we work to help you build new ways of responding to situations in which you used to smoke.
You remain ware and involved throughout the process. You make your own decisions, and your commitment is important.
The goal is not to spend the rest of your life fighting the urge to smoke. The goal is to help you become someone who simply lives without cigarettes.
Imagine finishing dinner and continuing your evening without a cigarette. Getting into your car and simply driving, Having a stressful day and finding another way to handle it.
These may seem like small things. But, when smoking has become part of so many everyday moments, getting those moments back can mean a great deal That is the change we are working toward.
Three consultations. Two weeks. One decision.
This is a focused program with one clear goal: helping you stop smoking completely within two weeks.
Your program begins with a two-hour initial consultation. We will explore your smoking habits, our reasons for wanting to stop, and what you want your life to look like without cigarettes. We will also make an important decision: When will you stop smoking?
You can choose to stop smoking after your first consultation or after your second. Either is fine. What matters is that you make a clear decision.
Your second consultation lasts one hour. We will work with the plan you have chosen. If you have already stopped smoking, we will strengthen that new path. If you have chosen to stop after this consultation, we will focus on helping make that change.
Your third session is about strengthening your progress. We will work on the situations and habits that used to involve smoking. You will practice new ways of responding and building confidence in your decision to live smoke-free.
These consultations are progressive with the goal of having you smoke-free within three sessions.
Scheduling is Simple
